I call this blog "trauma center" from my nickname when I was an EMT, which was "Trauma Mills".

Ramp Oct 2007

Wheelchair ramp built on 10/20/2007. GE Volunteers and DallasRamps.Org

I like to ask people to wave when I take their picture; stole the idea from an article in MAKE magazine. People find it hard *not* to smile when they wave. Try it now.

One moment touched me on this day. The woman in the picture, Evelyn, was so happy with the ramp that she gathered us into a circle and prayed, thanking God.

FoxyTunes test

What commercial was this from?
I think it was for the Hummer H3

On this Friday, I'm thankful today for...

- Being able to take a whole day off from work to visit with my mom, who was visiting from far away (well, 7 hours of driving *is* far)
- The strength to be able to carry a 50-lb cathode output module down from a storage rack 10 feet above ground, then across a parking lot
- My wife, who offered to watch over Austin (Little Gremlin) all weekend
- Reconnecting with my nephew, Jared, who I found out works only 8 miles away from my house (give or take)
- Having God's blessing on our financial resources ...to be able to buy dinner for: us, mom, Jared and Tori (or is it "Tory"?)
- Wonderful weather today!
- My 2 sons
- Having the opportunity and energy and God-given talent to help the homebound by building wheelchair ramps. Number 12, for me, is tomorrow.
- Rush Limbaugh ... who took ridicule and threats and criticism and turned them into over $4M in donations to the MC-LEF
- The freedom to (fill the blank). God Bless our TROOPS, especially Paul Clark.

Random Thought ... Parenting

After telling my nearly-4-year-old son, Austin, over and over and over not to do something (like jumping off the couch to hit a rather large balloon), I was reminded today of how wonderful God is. How patient He is! There are times I just don't want the hassle of being "dad" ... specifically, the frustration from being ignored by my "Little Gremlin" (which is Austin's October nickname).

But my love for my son pulls me back in line. And such it is with God. How he "tells" us over and over how we "better not do that or we'll get hurt" and yet we do it anyway.

And we get hurt (or have no idea how lucky we were to avoid injury). God could give us a stern glance and say "I told you so!", but no ... instead we are comforted with His outstretched arms.
